A New Life For a Period Home

Surry House is a listed building in the heart of a lovely Southsea terrace. This project is a single-storey extension with a new kitchen and dining area.

Surry House is a listed building in the heart of a lovely Southsea terrace. The young family who are happy to call this their home have endeavoured to develop the period building to fit modern life. The kitchen wasn’t large enough and lacked light and aspect onto the garden. The original features of the property are part of the charm and rather than replicate the original the design adds a contemporary, minimalist, light-filled addition that demonstrates that the house has evolved over time.
The design includes a kitchen extension with a vaulted ceiling and Crittall style doors and an apex window to make the most of the lovely garden views. The kitchen is beautifully crafted joinery finished in a timeless colour with stone worktops. The craftsmanship and materials suit the original fabric of the building seamlessly.
