Oak Ashes Barn, Rowlands Castle
A converted farmhouse barn with beautiful original timber rafters and sloping high ceilings.
The interior layout and décor at 1st floor was dated and needed an additional bathroom and some guest accommodation. Due to the constraints on the site any alterations needed to be made within the existing fabric of the building.
The clients were absent for the majority of the build process, so maintaining good communication was essential to a successful handover. Ensuring samples of materials were on hand when the clients visited site made the build efficient.
The layout and design relied on simplicity. The natural beauty of the existing timbers were emphasised by simple clean lines. Additional light was introduced, and borrowed light to new internal rooms where necessary.
